the next generation..

the next generation..

Messagepar tomk » 12 Mars 2012 01:22

My daughter Lauren was about 12 years old when we both got involved in the Durango Owners Club.

Now she has her own home, and two weeks ago she and her boyfriend adopted a rescue dog "Riley"

Hi Tom,

The years pass quickly, Lauren came to D'OC in March 2006.
Riley to a good head, it's probably a great bodyguard !

Lauren bought a 2012 Ford Focus SEL hatchback this week, getting rid of her 2008 Lexus IS250AWD. The Lexus was a very nice car that you couldn't fit a damned thing into, and it cost a lot to run. So we'll see how the Ford adventure goes.

When she bought the Lexus, she traded the 2007 Scion xA that Leah and I gave her when she finished her freshman year at college; she is now realizing what a great vehicle that xA was: big on the inside, small on the outside, amazingly good in the snow, uses almost no fuel, and runs forever.

But she is still goading me on to get a Grand Cherokee SRT8 :)

Riley the "puppy" is settling in nicely. He's getting his owners well trained :)

Here's a pic of the new Focus posing with my Grand Cherokee, on the final move out of Lauren's apartment into her house.

Lauren is really liking the Focus.. she already has 4000 miles on it; because of her work situation she's driving it 400 miles each way every week.. so she's spent lots of long hours in it.

And Riley the dog seems to be doing fine, I got to visit with him for a bit after "delivering the goods" from the move.. I don't know how well this will translate, but he's a goofy lovable dog :)

Update:

Riley has turned out to be a great friend, a lovable dog.

Lauren has passed 11,000 miles on the Focus, and she's still happy with it.

Riley had to have a bit of surgery this week, so he's a hurting puppy. He's not happy :(
